Getting Started

TackTracker is a GPS race tracking solution specifically designed for yachting. With an optional license, it also offers a complete solution for power boat navigation rallies.

Much of TackTracker runs in the cloud and can be accessed from any web browser. At the TackTracker Cloud, anyone can watch races, both live and replays. Race administrators can create an account and use the online race editor to create and manage live races.

TackTracker also has a companion PC application which complements the cloud offering and which is described in this guide.

You can download the PC application and use it for free to watch races published on the TackTracker cloud. With optional licenses, you can access rich functionality for logged tracking, race reports and club race management.

Installation

To download the Windows app, visit tacktracker.com/web/download.

Double-click the downloaded TackTrackerInstall.msi file to install TackTracker on your PC.

If there is a new version available, you can safely download and install the latest version over the top of your existing installed software and you will not lose any data.

TackTracker stores all user data in a My Tracks folder under Documents. User data is not updated by the installer.

Installing a Licence

If you have purchased a licence from the TackTracker shop, for example a Logged Tracking, Club Regatta or Navigation Rally licence, you will have been provided with a special licence Access Code. To install your licence using your Access Code:

  1. Launch TackTracker
  2. Click Install License, on the splash screen which first appears.
  3. Paste in your Access Code and click OK.

Your licence is saved into your My Tracks folder and will not be affected by re-installing the software. If your licence has an expiry date and you purchase a renewal, the updated licence will be automatically downloaded and installed next time you run TackTracker. If for any reason, this doesn’t happen, you can manually install the updated licence using your license Access Code as above.

Moving to a new PC

Your licence permits use on up to two PC’s at a time. If you are moving to a new PC, install TackTracker on the new PC and copy over the My Tracks folder and its contents from the old PC to retain your licence and data.
